I love to remind myself that I was the fastest sperm. It’s the most life-affirming, brilliant, mind blowing thought ever. You might’ve seen I posted about this on Instagram this week – it’s something that’s been on my mind quite a bit lately and it fills me with so much appreciation. It’s an unbelievable realisation – and achievement! Well done you pro swimmer you!
Just let it really sink in…In a single burst of the old love stick, a healthy male will release between 40 million and 1.2 million sperm cells. The average woman on the other hand is born with about 2 million egg follicles – the reproductive structures that create eggs. However, only about 450 of these will ever release mature eggs for fertilisation. (Scientific info found here).
It only takes 1 sperm cell and 1 egg to then create a HUMAN! Out of those extraordinary odds YOU find yourself here today…Not only were you the fastest sperm buttttt you married up with a lucky egg. You are literally (approximately) 1 in 1.2 billion. Or something like that.
You’ve not only beaten those insane odds but the events preceding the sexy time too! Your mum might’ve been too tired/your dad might’ve gone down the pub/you might’ve been swallowed…HA so aware my mum/grandparents read this blog. Sorry guys but it’s true…
Seriously though, a series of beautiful, miraculous events led to where you are right now.
We’re living in a digital age that constantly causes us to measure ourselves up. We are voyeurs, watching people’s lives unfold online – friends, family, strangers on the other side of the world. We then compare our bodies, our jobs and our lifestyle to those we see online and it’s easy to find yourself feeling a little ordinary…
But you are absolutely extraordinary!
So if you ever find yourself feeling a bit disenchanted, bored or fed up with life, remember all of the odds you’ve defied up until this very moment. Remember the miracle that you are and let it fill you with joy to be alive 😀✨
You are so special.
